A Great Start!

We are off to a good start. Since Commissioner Holmes and I were elected we managed to repeal the mandatory mask order for county buildings. While other elected officials are free to make decisions for themselves and their employees regarding masks, buildings under the control of the commissioner will not require masks.

The wearing of masks has been a hotly debated subject throughout the world. It seems that science is now being weaponized by politicians and the media in order to push through policy. If one listens to the left and right they will give opinions sighting intelligent professors and doctors stating the exact opposite regarding the effectiveness of masks. The world has gone crazy! As for me, you can guess which side I have come down on. I agree with the CDC’s original statement, which has now been conveniently changed to fit their narrative, that masks simply do not prevent the spread of viruses. Again, if you want to wear a mask then get after it. You are an American after all.

Regardless of the effectiveness of the masks, Americans are not responsible for each other’s health choices. If folks want to wear a mask, I will support their right do so as long as they support my right do not wear a mask. Further, this “pandemic” has been exaggerated to biblical proportions. This is not to say that it does not exist or that one should not be careful. To the contrary. Wash your hands, be safe, and stay home as much as possible if you are AT RISK. However, lets remember that this virus has a remarkably high survivability rate.

In other dealings we are working diligently to get our county roads in order. We’ve been kicking the can down the road to long and allowing ourselves excuses. It’s time for a workable plan and that is exactly what we are working on. This will take some time but I’m confident that roads will improve in time.

Next week we will begin discussions regarding a part-time/full-time grant writer. It seems that might be a good idea. If you have an opinion please come and share it.

Thanks for tuning in. It’s very important that you pay attention to what your elected officials are doing.
